Good morning. Good morning. All right. Well, it is January 10th, 2024. January 10th. I think that's a good day. Well, let's hope so today. And you think significant going on. Welcome to Elevate Your Day. What's going on today?
We worked on the weather cams yesterday and activated them so that camera one and camera two are now streaming constantly live. As soon as you get on, you'll see them go live. And there's a five minute limit if you're watching them, but you've always just refreshed the screen or touched the screen or something they come back on. But they're on instantly as you go to the web page on wyobraskaweathercams.com. So that was one thing I worked on yesterday. And that's something that you can use just to check and see what the weather looks like and Scott's blood. That's right. Answer on the areas because we're carrying an all-way to Kimball and more Scott's blood. So when we're planning on, more cameras, even down in the group. And I'll be done. So let's talk about more of what we're doing today, rather than yesterday. So what do you got? Well, I'm going to be working on a few things, but we're planning on doing something fun for your birthday. So happy birthday, my darling.Oh, well, yeah, I guess that happened on this day in history in 1966. Right. What else happened on this? Oh, we're not going to get to this day. Not yet. I like that second. If I ever forget what age I am, L-V-I-I-I. Right. I just look at the Super Bowl logo. And then we'll know.If I can read it, I don't know what L-V-I-I-I means, but I'm L-V-I-I-I this year.Well, you also are going to be working on some non-profit stuff this morning.Oh, right. Yes, of course. And just a little bit here. I have a meeting with Congressman James Frank. We're from right here in Wichita Falls, Texas. He is a Congressman for our district in Austin, of course, with the Catholic is where they meet for Senate. And he's going to get you guys started on some fundraising.Well, yeah, we're going to talk about some grant writing for homeschool stuff. We're going to talk about some homeschooling issues and get some advice on some local organizations on grant writing.Yeah. Yeah.Since we were blessed with the opportunity to open up the gym and other facility there across from Lamar in Wichita Falls. So that's a great youth facility now that's getting used almost every single day.Actually, we're told every single day that it is used, at least by someone, but on most days, several hours, four to eight hours a day.Yeah. So it's really getting used to appreciate James Frank and he's done to help us there and we're going to talk about some grant writing stuff tomorrow.Actually, it's this morning. This morning. Yeah, this morning. Yeah.Yep. So that's what you're going to be doing. And then I think we're just going to do something fun for your birthday. We'll see what the day has in store. And this evening, then I have fire.Of course. All right. Well, I think that's going to do it for the buzz this morning. That's what's going on in our life today with us so that we can get started now on our day.Because what time is short? Oh, time is short. That is our daily devotional title today. Thank you for jumping in there. That was good.So it is we're continuing on with the bridge. And this is day three of the bridge and time is short is the name of this one. So, boy, everybody's in the hurry. Gotta go. Gotta go. Gotta go.So what's going on? Time is short. Let's go. This is a five day devotional from the bridge by Xavier Cornejo. And there is a reason for everything. Let's find out.For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven, a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to harvest, a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build up, a time to cry and a time to laugh, a time to grieve and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones, a time to embrace and a time to turn away.A time to search and a time to quit searching, a time to keep and a time to throw away, a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be quiet and a time to speak, a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.Ecclesiastes 3 1 through 8.Time is one of life's most valued riches. It's something you cannot buy, but you can indeed spend. It's interesting to think that all that we all have the same amount of time each day, but not the same amount of days to spend that time. That's interesting. Same amount each day, but not the same number of days.Tomorrow is never guaranteed, that's why, because your time is finite.Finite.Given that reaching your goal and crossing the bridge will take time, be vigilant not to waste yours. In Proverbs 16.9 it says, we can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.Generally the greater the goal, the more time it will take to get there. Each moment you allow to pass by is a moment you will never get back. That is why I mentioned before that the use of our time is the use of our lives.Never be so busy in the moment that you forget what you want to reach over time.We live under the paradigm that we do not have time, but there is always time for the things we truly care about. It's true. James 413 through 15.Look here, you who say, excuse me, today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and we will stay there a year.We will do business there and make a profit. How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow?Your life is like the morning fog. It's here for a little while, then it's gone. What you ought to say is, if the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or do that.If you have a painful toothache, you will try to go to the dentist as soon as possible. One way or the other, you will open up your schedule to go, simply because you don't want to suffer. So when we generally, when we genuinely care about something, we have the capacity to make time for it.If you sincerely want to reach your goals, you need time to develop and employ your strategy. But don't begin until you count the cost. For who will begin construction of a building without first calculating cost to see if there is enough money to finish it?Yes, of course, that's Luke, the lawyer type. Very smart in 1428, right?Yeah, he said, you must know how much time it will take to reach your desired end. If you don't, your expectations will be mistaken.Wrong expectations lead to lives consumed by frustration.I tell you, our business is certainly one to attest to that.People don't know what to expect when it comes to websites and multimedia services. So if you need to lay it out for them. And we need to be clear about it.In order to not give up because you didn't reach time to end in time, let me say that again. In order not to give up because you didn't reach the end in time, you must consider time calculations from the start.Just a reiteration of what Luke was saying, more clearly actually in the verse when he said, don't begin until you count the cost for who would begin construction of a building without first calculating cost to see if there is enough money to finish it.You also need the time.Yeah.So the cost?So the cost of not only money, but the cost of time.Yes.Yeah.And the kids and I and you were helping with the calculations and formulas today on time and cost and all kinds of fixed variables.Yeah.So there are some definite and some indefinite. And one thing is you cannot count on tomorrow. If you want to spend eternity in something other than hell, if you want to spend eternity in heaven with Jesus, all you have to do is give your life to Christ. And it's when I say all you have to do, that's a big thing, but it's not hard.Admit your sinner.Trust in Jesus that he died for your sins. He's in heaven on the right hand side of God.Ready to bring you home into his big, big house.Yeah.Lord, we love you and we thank you for this time together. We thank you for this devotional and please give us the time that we need, but help us also to understand that time is invaluable and can vanish at any moment.Lord, we love you and thank you for the time you give us in Jesus' name, we pray.Amen.So other than it being your birthday and the date that you came into work.Yes.In 1966 at 10.57 p.m.What else happened on January 10th?Well, 1776.That's a pretty patriotic year.Thomas Payne publishes Common Sense.Very good.So I was born in Common Sense. There you go.1863, the first subway opens in London.Yeah, we have a lot of London stuff in here in the state of history because London is kind of old.Well, speaking of old, basically the richest, oldest company in existence. The one that was run by the richest person ever in the world, John D. Rockefeller. In 1870, Standard Oil was incorporated.J.D. Rockefeller established Standard Oil in Ohio, making it the largest oil refinery of its day.It dominated the market.Pioneering the concept of corporate trust, controlling all aspects of oil refining and distribution. That sounds to me like the monopoly and conflict of interest when you control all aspects. It sounds like the beef business effect.Kind of does, yeah.Oh boy.In fact, what happened? It operated until 1911 when the Supreme Court ruled that it violated laws against monopolies.Look at that.I didn't even read that.Yeah.I said it sounded to you like something going on there. There shouldn't be going on.No relation to an overrun company.No.Of course not.Well, in 1920, the League of Nations instituted. That was one of Wilson's deals.Right.And in 1946, that was the first actual meeting of the United Nations.Okay.So they started the United Nations. So it started as the League of Nations.Right.Yep.Which we covered yesterday.Right.The first time the United Nations met as the Nations instead of the League of Nations.Yeah, I think it's all a bunch of global BS.So let's move on over to 1967.And there's President Johnson asked for more funding for me and I'm more guy.I got money going.Got to keep that money going.Yep.Johnson had a big part in killing Kennedy.Yep.That's right. If you want to hear more about it, just follow our FDR and our JFK documentary. On diggingd for documentaries right there on diggingd for TV.com.1901 was the first oil gusher.Oh, where?Oh, let's see where it is.Where was that?Let's check it out.You know, right here in Texas is a big place.Mm-hmm.Look at that.Beaumont.Beaumont, Texas.Beaumont, Texas.Down by, down, down the Houston.Yep.An enormous gusher, crude oil.It was Jethro that saw it.He was on his farm.He shot in the ground and out came some bubbling gold.Bubbling gold or bubbling gold.Yeah.And now I got a list of it.Black gold, that is.Coding the landscape for hundreds of feet and signaling the event and the advent of the Americanoil industry.Well, in 1929, that was in 1901.Right.But in 1929, there was a huge discovery here in Burke, Burnett, Texas.North of Wichita Falls, Texas.Mm-hmm.And technically, that town was not even named. That one was the, the Burke Burnett was founded by Burke Burnett.Mm-hmm.And Burke Burnett was, uh, the town was named after him, like I said. But that's the town. That thing in 1929 sprouted up so big.It moved over into Wichita Falls 15 miles to the south. And created a, the oil boom created a need for lots of skyscrapers, lots of office space. And that, I tell you, that little bit of history.Because one day you will see a feature article with our, with pictures and video from ourwhole family as we tour the world's smallest skyscraper.Yes.It's right here in Wichita Falls, Texas. And we're going to bring it to you live. And it had to do with the 1929 oil boom.So anyway, back to the estate and history, what else do you have?Wow.Is that it?That was your one last thing.Thank you. That was my one last thing. So now let's go to national base. So, you know, today is Save the Eagles Day.Mm.Right.So that's a good, that's a good thing, right? We need to save the eagles.I like plants too.Look at that.National house plant day.Yes.Appreciate those house plants.Yeah.They provide you a clean oxygen. That's right. Those, those scrubbers.Scrubbers.Right.It's also national take the stairs day.Right.We always try to do that.Yeah.I never take y'all with that.I don't, I don't usually either.Yeah.Stairs are steps.Yup.Stairs equal steps. And also don't forget to turn off those lights, turn down the energy, you know, turn downthe heating when you're not in the room. Also, one thing people might not think of on this national cut your energy cost day is to,when you go out of town for a few days, even if it's just a few days, even if it's 24 overa full day, go into your water heater.Right.Turn down that little thermostat because it keeps those tanks, whether you have one or two, pretty hot so that you always have hot water in the house. And if you're not using the hot water. It's going to heat it up even if it's constantly heating this hot water you're not using andtherefore you're just using energy, don't you?Right.Right.That's something people don't think about.Yeah.Turn it down and then don't get turned up when you come back and then be careful not toscald yourself, if you're curious what normal temperature is, they say don't go any higherthan 135.Right.Right.Well, we always have to throw some food in there and it's a National Fitter Sweet Chocolate Day.Oh, well, I have been actually bunching on some of that lately.I've had some sea salt caramel chocolates that-The dark chocolate is bitter sweet.Yep.And when you talked about food, I thought you were going to talk about the guy with thewatermelon.Oh, the peculiar people day.Yeah.That's my day. It's my birthday. It can be peculiar any day you want. That's right.Look, it's got the most likes. That's all.The peculiar people days at my house plants.Yeah, that's right. And you're right. So it's okay to be peculiar today. All right. Also, one last food.Mmm.Yeah.You want to talk about that one?I do.I actually like oysters.National oysters day.Okay.My whole life.Oh, slimy rocks.Yeah, sure.Don't remind me how slimy they are. They are kind of nasty if you think about it.But don't think about it.I just remember eating oysters.Oh, right.Yeah.When I was a kid, you know, when you're poor, you only have so many things to eat, we had,you know.I don't know if rum existed in the 70s, it must have. But I just don't remember eating a lot of rum.I don't know if they had it in America.Oh, okay. You know.Yeah, okay.But.All right.Anyway, I think that's going to do it for this day in history, which was right after ourdevotional, which before that we had our buzz. And so all of that together is called elevate your day.And hopefully we were able to do that for you today.Well, thanks again for listening. And may God bless.I'm Brian. And I'm Andi.Have a nice day.Look at that.

First of all, we're gonna start off with the buzz. The buzz is kind of a recap of what we've got going onat Hale Multimedia. So we're gonna go over kind of what we've done website-wise,what's coming up, our Expos, and some projects that we did internally. So you ready to go over that?Yes.All right, welcome to the studio, Miss Andy.Hello.All right, so what do you have going on at Hail Multimedia?Well, I'm helping Helberg and Ness a little more, getting things tweaked. We also are working on our Expos websites, getting those ready, because those are coming up in March and April.Right, which stuff falls and in Kansas.Right.Two different Expos.Where else? That was all.And we're planning on working on digging deeper TV.Oh, well, that's what I'm doing.I was asking you what you're doing.Well, I was working. You were working on a lot of it with it.No, but weren't you working on another project?I saw something else.Wasn't there something else? You're teaching.I was doing all work.Teaching a high school class.Yes.Well, you know, that's a great thing.Yes. Well, you know, that's a big part of our life. It's teaching our children.Yes.And it's a high school level now, so what were you studying?I was working on the forensics worksheets.Ah, forensics. So you're in the forensics class now.My favorite program, one of my very favorite programs. They're senior high school science.Nice.That's a good choice. So who chose that curriculum?I did.Nice.That's right. That's right. That's right.Well, they were interested in it too.Yeah, it was.And they kind of watched us watch the CSX shows.Yeah, and bones.Yeah, and all those. All those.Yeah.So that's what we've been doing. All right.Well, I think it's about, oh, yes.You mentioned digging deeper. So we've got to tell people that all of those rumble videos arerumbled videos. And I say rumble videos because there are videos, are episodes, documentaries, music videos that we had on several different channels on rumbleare now moved into our own server network right there on digging deeper TV.com.That's digging deeper TV.com.Go there to the on demand section. You're in for a treat now.Yes, search for faith matters and you can find all of our faith.Mm hmm.The podcast. And then we can also see all the other truths, all the true man's matrixes, healthy living segments, the lives. They're all in there as well as other documentaries like watch the water andbacks, pandemic, other absolute proof.Yeah.Lots of different band and sensor videos.Right.Go to the new website there at digging deeper TV.com.So that's what I was working on most of the day.And kids, the whole family, everybody pitched in getting that databasetransfer.Check it out, please.Digging deeper TV.So I think it's about time for our devotional, right? It sure is.It's called the bridge. The bridge. We're doing this again today, just like yesterday. This is day two with Xavier Cornnejo. And this is today's topic is actually move your feet.Ah, very good.So we're talking about taking that step forward. Is that what we did?We touched on that yesterday? That's kind of what we ended with yesterday.Yeah.Taking that step forward, like Tom said in one of his songs, it's like so manypeople just are running in place. They're not moving forward.Yep.That's forward.Let's take a look at what we have here. The gates of Jericho were tightly shut because the people were afraid of theIsraelites. No one was allowed to go in or out.But the Lord said to Joshua, I have given you Jericho, its king, and all itsstrong warriors. You and your fighting men should march around the town once a day for sevendays, for six days.Seven priests will walk ahead of the ark, each carrying a ram's horn.On the seventh day, you are to march around the ten town seven times withthe priest blowing the horns. When you hear the priest give one long blast on the ram's horns, all haveall the people shout as loud as they can. Then the walls of the town will collapse and the people can chargestraight into the town. It's hard to believe. It's hard to read.Yeah.March around, march around, yell about and then boom.Yeah.Right.So, and then keep going. So, Joshua called together the priest and said, take up the ark of theLord's Covenant and assigned seven priests to walk in front of eachcarrying a ram's horn. Then he gave the orders to the people.March around the town and the armed men will lead the way in front of theark of the Lord. After Joshua spoke to the people, the seven priests with the ram's hornsstarted marching in the presence of the Lord, blowing the horns as theymarched. And the ark of the Lord's Covenant followed the high hand. Some of the armed men marched in front of the priest with the hornsand some behind the ark, with the priest continually blowing the horns.Do not shout.Do not even talk.Joshua commanded not a single word from any of you until I tell you toshout. Then shout. So, the ark of the Lord was carried around the town once a day and theneveryone returned to spend the night in the camp.Joshua got up early in the next morning and the priest again carriedthe ark of the Lord. The seven priests with the ram's horns marched in front of the ark of theLord, blowing their horns.Again, the armed men marched in front of the priest with the hornsand behind the ark of the Lord. All this time the priests were blowing their horns. On the second day they again marched around the town once and returned tothe camp. They followed this pattern for six days.On the seventh day, the Israelites got up, at dawn, and marched aroundthe town as they had done before. But this time they went around the town seven times. The seventh time around as the priests shouted the long glass on theirhorns, Joshua commanded the people, shout, where the Lord is giving youthe town.Jericho and everything in it must be completely destroyed as anoffering to the Lord.Only Ray had the prostitute and the others in her house will bespared, for she protected our spies.Do not take any of the things set apart for destruction or yourselveswill be completely destroyed, and you will bring your trouble onto thecamp of Israel.Everything made in silver, gold, bronze, or iron is sacred to theLord and must be brought into his treasury. When the people heard the sound of the ram's horn, they shouted asloud as they could, and the walls, Jericho, collapsed. The Israelites charged straight into town and captured it.They completely destroyed everything with their swords.Men, women, young and old, cattle, sheep, goats, and dog keeps.Meanwhile, Joshua said to the two spies, keep her promise, go tothe prostitute's house and bring her out, along with her family. The men who had been spies went in and brought Ray had out.Her father, mother, brothers, and all her relatives who werewith her. They moved her whole family to a safe place near the camp of Israel. Then the Israelites burned the town and everything in it.Only the things made from silver, gold, bronze, or iron were keptfor the treasury of the Lord's house. So Joshua spared Ray have the prostitute and her relatives whowere with her in the house.Because she had hidden the spies, Joshua sent to Jericho's, andshe lived among the Israelites to this day.Joshua, 6, 1, 3, 25.I was wondering if you were just going to read the whole story? It was pretty close. That was a story or the actual scripture. So that's actually was the...It was from the new living testament. So it does sound a little more story-like.So that's why I chose that version.Joshua, 6, 1, 3, 25.There are people who can point us in the direction of the bridge, but we are the ones who need to move our feet.So the title, the bridge. We need to have people in our life that can do that. You need to have people you can ask for advice when you don'tknow how to advance or how to embrace the strategy to expand. We all meet someone we can ask for directions.Someone who can teach us how to win.In Joshua's story, it's God who gives him the winning strategy.Mm-hmm.And it says, in James 3 17,But the wisdom from above is first of all pure.It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere, James 3 17.No matter what your walk in life is or what your beliefs are,if your dreams are important and you don't know which way to go,you can always speak to God.Take a few minutes and ask him for wisdom for the road ahead,so you can reach your dreams someday. In James 1 5, it says,If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God who gives generouslyto all finding fault.Without finding fault, and it will be given to you. Those words are comforting. The strategy that led Joshua to triumph was a very unusual one.Attack a city protected by walls.Ooh.Sunzoo, one of the greatest strategists who ever lived, says the following.Maintaining an army is expensive.A host of 100,000 men can cost 1,000 ounces of silver a dayfor provisions like food, chariots, spears, arrows, armor, and oxen.Prolonged warfare can exhaust the resources of any state, leaving it weak and vulnerable.Hence, aim for a quick and decisive victory. Not prolonged campaigns.Avoid besieging walled cities because they usually take months of preparationsand many impatient generals will squander than the unemployment attacks.Do you think maybe our leaders of this day just don't read that anymore?Yeah, they don't get anything anymore. Most of them keep. However, Joshua didn't take months of preparation. It only took him seven days to conquer that citybecause when God is in the equation, there is no goal you cannot reach,no dream you cannot fulfill, no ocean you cannot navigate,no mountain you cannot climb, and no battle you cannot win. When the wisdom of God is present, everything is differentand nothing is impossible. To win, you need all the wisdom you can accumulate.Give yourself a chance to win.Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding. For wisdom is more profitable than silver, and her wages are better than gold.Wisdom is more precious than rubies, nothing you desire can compare with her.She offers you long life in her right hand, in riches and honor in her left. She will guide you down the rightful paths, all her ways are satisfying.Wisdom is a tree of life to those who embrace her.Happy are those who hold her tightly. Proverbs 3, 13 through 18.Wisdom is all about wisdom.Let's pray.Dear Lord, thank you for the wisdom of Joshua and the patienceand the understanding of how to follow directions to a tea.Lord, give us that patience and wisdom to follow your directionsas specifically and honorably as Joshua did.And with the Manders as they took care of the covenant.Lord, we love you and we thank you for this lesson today.Jesus name me, amen.Wow, okay, so we're talking about this day in history now, January 9th,and today is 2024, but there are some other things going on.We go all the way back to 1768 and we have the first modern circus opening in London. You know, the name Philip asked me, probably, considered the father of the modern circuspioneered the idea of performing a questry instance in a circus ring rather than in a straight line.Circus had the dual advantage of allowing the audience to keep the writer in sightand allowing the writer to take advantage of the centrifugal force to maintain their balancewhile performing tricks on horseback. Now, Ashley was also the first to have acrobats, jugglers and clownsentertaining the crowd during breaks between trick-writing acts.Brilliant guy.Circus was so successful that he toured Ireland and Franceand was mentioned a number of famous works of fiction, including Jane Austen's novel Emma and Charles Dickens' Sketches by Boss.Interesting.Oh, 1793 was the first hot air balloon flight in the United States.Oh, cool.Yeah, you know, speaking of hot air balloons, the Nationals are held in Scott's Bluff, Nebraska.Yeah, yes.Did you turn our music off? Did it just end? No.Oh, okay. We can just play a little, little low music there for us.All right. And what else happened? What happened on January 9th?Let's see.Well, you know, Apple launched iTunes, revolutionizing how people consume music that was in 2001.And then in 2007, Apple launched the iPhone, the actual iPhone. So iTunes, because there was the iPod and all the high quality music. All right. Some other things. Before that, oh, yeah, the Lakers streak in 72.That's okay. And I talked about the first modern circus already, you know. And then Columbus sees mermaids. What's this?In 1493, Columbus mistake. They manatees for mermaids. He thought he saw mermaids.Okay.Also, Richard Nixon was born on this day in history in 1913.And farther back than that, in 1887, record snow and cold decimates cattle herds. And then they go back in the 19th century, 1887.Selvester Stallone starts filming Rocky in 1976.Oh, yeah. He starts filming Rocky. And then you know what happened after that.A series of movies. One after the other after the other. He all went to most of them, I'm thinking. But there was also the Hillside Stranglers. In 1984, one of them was finally sentenced to life in prison.Wow.Now, in 1952, President Truman warns of the Cold War.Which did end up happening?Yep.But there's a lot of things that happened on this day in history. But what is today's national days?Well, today is national law enforcement appreciation day. That is the most important welcome on the list right there.Yeah.Tuesday, January 9th, 2024, national law enforcement appreciation day.Looks like they're also celebrating the first balloon launch because it's also nationalmoon ascension day.Very good.Very good.Good.And do you like to write poems? You know what I mean?A lot of lyricists and music musicians write poems because those are lyrics to songs. But if you like to write poetry, today is poetry at work day.Oh, you can just be a good reciter.Anything, yeah.Just have some fun, write something down.Yes.Or you could just share silly poem with your friends. It's also national word nerd day.Word nerd, I think I was saying something to you earlier, but let's not go there. How about national static electricity day?Ooh, that blanket I had on earlier.Oh, it sure was really fun.And we always have to have a food.Let's have a coffee, huh?Well, it's definitely national apricot day.I mean, that sounds alright.Okay, that's a nice fruit.Apricots are you pretty fresh?Yep.And some sort of casserole made here too, right?Cassoulai?Yeah. It's a casserole. It looks like a casserole, I don't know.Alright, we're going to just say that's what it is today on January 9th, 2024.We hope that we were able to elevate your day. Thanks again for listening.I'm Brian. And I'm Andi.May God bless.

And so now it is time for our This Day in History.Oh, I'm so mean.Okay, here we go.Here we go.It is This Day in History. So what do you have for us?So in 1790, George Washington delivers the first State of the Union address.Very good.Very first one.The president delivered it in New York City before a joint session of Congress.Well, it's usually where they delivered, I think. He's the one who set the standard.Mm-hmm.And in 1867, African-American men are granted the right to vote in Washington, D.C.In fact, it was Congress, again, who over-rode President Johnson's veto of a bill that extendedvoting rights to all men in D.C. over 21.Mm-hmm.President Johnson, huh?Mm-hmm.Mm-hmm.Yeah.In 1901, the first National Bowling Championship is held in Chicago, Illinois.Well, that's pretty cool.I don't know why, but as a kid, I always flew through the channels and ended up on that, you know, those two guys have left the against the righty. And it was kind of funny.Yeah.They ended up watching a lot of bowling. And, you know, found out that good old University in Nebraska, they actually are really goodat bowling. They've won the National Championship before. We skipped over a date, though. We skipped over a date.Yes.Well, today is January 8th, 2024.No.What did we skip over?Do you know when the last time is that the U.S. national debt was zero?Oh.The last time the budget was balanced. Is that what you said? The last time we gave an O?Right.No.The first and only time.Oh, okay. That there was a zero balance.Oh, I have no idea.I think, I don't know.I was guessing in the 60s before, but I was way off, wasn't I?Yes, 1835.Yeah.1835.That's the first and only time U.S. debt. Was it zero?Hmm.Well.That controls everything at this point.Speaking of those who create a lot of debt and programs and all that, 1918, Woodrow Wilsonannounces his 14 points plan. This was a declaration of principles that would be the basis for negotiating peace followingWorld War I, which he said he was going to do everything to not get into and was nevergoing to get into and then got into. And it actually was the establishment of the League of Nations.Yeah.Which became the United Nations.Yeah, we're not happy about that.Yep.In 1968, the undersea world of Jacques Cousteau premieres on ABC.Speaking of more classics on TV when we were kids, that was another one.Jacques Cousteau. And I didn't know this, but this is kind of interesting. On this day in history in 1978, Harvey Milk is the first openly gay person elected to publicoffice. Now, we normally wouldn't run stories on those who have this mental illness. We believe it is.Okay.Sorry, but you know, hate me if you must. But Milk had run unsuccessfully three times before being elected to the San Francisco Boardof Supervisors.Well while in office, he was instrumental in passing the city ordinance for extended gayrights. So we have Harvey Milk to thank for that.Milk for the gay naked parades in downtown San Francisco. Now the disturbing part is that he was actually assassinated by the former city supervisor,Dan White. So wow.Wow.And he was last named White. How about that? And he just tens of thousands of people attended a candlelight vigil. And Joan Baez and the San Francisco gay man's chorus sang there and guests who posthumouslyawarded the presidential medal of freedom to them.Let me guess.Let me guess.Obama.Yep.Yeah.In 2009, he couldn't just wait. You know, first year he got in, he had to go give Milk some honey. In 2016, Mexican President Nieto announced a recapture of drug lord El Chapo.El Chapo! They got El Chapo. They got El Chapo. They got El Chapo. We got El Chapo.Well, that's a good thing.Yeah.Also in this day in history, a friend of mine was born.Oh yeah.Yeah.I remember from high school. Her name is Jean and we'll just leave it at that.Hi, Jean.Happy birthday.Happy birthday, Jean. All right. You have any one last things?Oh.Do we have one last thing?Let's see.Oh, one last thing.Do we have any sports going on?Hmm.Did you know that to German astronomers Simon Marius independently discovered the firstthree moons of Jupiter one day after Galileo.Oh, people.Oh, poor guy.Oh, shoot. They weren't in the same town.So of course he wasn't copying him. They just both solved.Oh, okay.Interesting.Yeah.That was a clear back in 1610.So that's kind of cool. And there's more coverage of our skies and different things that happen in the constellationson our scanner page right there at Panhandle Scanner and also digging deeper.net.That's of course where everything is digging deeper.net is the blog where you can go toto get all the stories, all of our podcasts, articles, everything under one roof rightthere and just type in moon or skies or something like that. And you'll get all the different articles. There are some interesting astronomical events coming up this year.So you really need to stay tuned to what's going on in the skies.Yeah.Well, speaking of sports, let's do look at some sports.I do remember in 1993, oh, Michael Jordan had a game high 35 points and Chicago won overMilwaukee 120 to 95.The strange thing about it, it was exactly two 20,000 points. That's exactly what he ended up with after that game.So he got to 20,000 points exactly. And it was in his 620th game of his career, which is the second fastest to reach thatafter of course the great Wilk to still.Yeah.Because he got there in 499 games. That's just crazy.Wow.But Chamberlain was scoring close to 100 points a game.Yep.Yep.Kind of like you get there quickly, don't you?Yep.All right. So no more last things.I think we're about done today, aren't we?Yeah.Well, today is National Clean Off Your Desk Day.Okay.I guess that's a good one.Yep.Mm hmm.Yep.And also National English Toffee Day.Nice.So if you get that desk clean, you can enjoy yourself some candy. And then at the end of the day, take a bubble bath.Yes.If that's your thing, it's National Bubble Bath Day.So we have some cool National Days for you there.Yep.All right.I think that's going to do it now for our this day in history. And all of our other stuff with Elevate Your Day.We hope we're able to do so.Thanks again for listening.I'm Brian. And I'm Andi.God bless.
