From Aligned: Living What You Believe by Angie Murenga on YouVersion
Reconnect with yourself. I know that might sound strange. But stay with me.
The Noise We Live In
We are constantly doing, solving, leading, deciding, showing up for everyone around us. And somewhere in all of that… we lose ourselves. We don’t pause. We don’t sit. We don’t check in. I’ve started creating moments where I sit, not to solve anything, not to plan or produce, but simply to ask: “How am I really doing? What is going on inside me?” No pressure. No agenda. Just awareness.
“Be still, and know that I am God.” — Psalm 46:10
The Lie of Overextension
We’ve been taught that the busier you are, the more productive you are. But I want to submit something different:
The more overextended you are, the more anxious and disconnected you become.
So the question worth asking is: Are you busy because you are in the will of God or because you are trying to prove something? Trying to earn approval? I heard this once, and it changed me: “Speed is irrelevant if you are going in the wrong direction.” You can be doing a lot and still be misaligned.
Mary and Martha
“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Jesus shows us this in Luke 10:38–42. Martha was busy, serving, doing what looked right. Mary chose something different; she sat at the feet of Jesus. And Jesus said she chose what could not be taken from her. Maybe this season is not about changing everything around you. Maybe it’s about restoring you – the person walking the path.
Reflection
- When was the last time I slowed down and checked in with myself?
- Am I constantly busy, or actually aligned?
- What might God be inviting me to pause and reconsider?

Hale Ministries
Andi and Brian Hale have a long history of ministry service, including 20+ years for each of them as AWANA Leaders and Teachers. Andi directed the Zion Evangelical Church Choir for 10 years and is now on the Praise Team for the largest church in Texoma (North Texas and Southern Oklahoma). She has had the opportunity to sing and pray with Avalon and Casting Crowns and landed the lead role in GREASE (50+ version) as Sandy at Wichita Falls Backdoor Theater. Brian has a long history in the media, including Radio, TV, Newspaper, PA Announcer, Social Media and On-Stage in front of thousands. As website designers of more than 25 years, they are always eager to help answer any questions you might have.
Together, Brian and Andi are out to prove that you can still have fun in your 50’s in this crazy, upside down world we live in today, as long as we keep our focus on Him, the One who created us for a purpose!
